Feldenkrais Can Help

Feldenkrais work is the most sophisticated and effective method I have seen for the prevention and reversal of deterioration of function.

 — Margaret Mead, Anthropologist

If you develop skill, you don’t need will power

When I work with people individually, I help them discover the habits and holding patterns which contribute to stiffness, restriction, and pain. We can interrupt those patterns and introduce enjoyable movements which support greater freedom, better physical action, and produce less stress on your muscles and joints. Individual sessions are customized specifically to your needs, so you can progress quickly and easily and start feeling more at home in your body right away.

Movement is life. Life is a process. Improve the quality of the process and you improve the quality of life itself.

 — Moshe Feldenkrais, PhD.

Improve Quality of Movement Naturally!

In these vocally-led classes, use small, gentle movements (usually lying down) to decrease tension, increase comfort in your shoulders, neck, back, legs and other areas. Improve posture and balance.  Apply these ingenious lessons to your own situation for surprising benefits— not only physically, but also in thinking, self-concept, and artistic performance. Appropriate for all ages and fitness levels.

Student Testimonials

I feel like this class has made me experience parts of my body that hadn’t had much attention in a long time. I feel more aware of how I hold my body while sitting in a chair, while driving my car, or standing. I used to slouch more!

I have arthritis in my ankles. After the lesson, the pain disappeared so that I walked for about an hour without any pain. This lesson also helped me with my lower back pain.

Hugo M.San Francisco

Thank you for a wonderful semester of Feldenkrais! I learned a lot about how to dance more deeply and to just trust my body to move more effortlessly.

(Instead of waking up every night and lying awake), I do my exercises every day and I’m sleeping like a lamb! Thank you!

I felt much more flexible and my sciatica pain was much lessened after the lesson. Walking around and up the hill , it did not hurt. I felt much looser, like my joints had been ‘oiled.’

Thank you for the recommendations. Your suggestions and the changes we’ve implemented since have been a great help to me!

The edges are gone. I feel more like a slinky when I walk.

Margaret G.San Francisco

I loved this lesson. My movement felt very graceful and afterwards it felt very graceful and when I was walking it felt effortless. Before the lesson, I was very tense and my leg and spine were hurting quite badly.

Marlene S.San Francisco

I am a very physical person and this method has helped me in being more in my body as I dance, run, and do my job as a massage therapist.

Healthy activity, made just for you.

Personalized Goals

At your first appointment, we will establish goals and introduce you to the enjoyable process of Functional Integration. As we identify what areas can improve right away, I will create and adapt a series of individual lessons, just for you, with benefits that build on each other.

Beyond Physical Therapy

The Feldenkrais Method can help in cases where physical therapy has produced limited results. Feldenkrais can also be the perfect compliment to PT, such as after a course of physical therapy is complete and the patient wants continued refinement of motor skills and in relation to long chain movement patterns, or coordination of certain highly skilled movements.

Life can be easier than you think!

It’s usually the little things that contribute to stress in the body. Anyone who is willing to spend a little time focusing on their movement habits with me is likely to find surprising ways in which they feel better, starting almost immediately. Reduce habitual movement stress and feel less burdened. Feel more freedom!
